Body & Soul magazine
Body
& Soul is an attractive, A5 format magazine which will be published quarterly
from now on. The Spring issue is currently available through health food stores,
arts venues and therapy centres throughout the region.
Body & Soul contains inspirational diary pages and a directory of alternative
therapists working in the region. Diary and directory listings are free, and readers
are encouraged to send in their details for inclusion. Unlike some 'alternative
therapy' magazines, Body & Soul offers really interesting features, written
by local practitioners and highlighting local initiatives.
Editor Jane Bowler says: 'Body & Soul is a modest attempt to unite Manchester's
alternative therapists with their public. There has been a gap in this community
since Cahoots finished. We are trying to restore that service, and at the same
time widen the potential audience for complementary therapies in the region, by
making sure that our articles are relevant and accessible to readers.'
Body & Soul is a free magazine and Jane explained that anybody can contact
her to obtain copies to give away to friends or clients. Her company, Temple Design
Publishing Solutions LTD, is a vegetarian small business based in Manchester's
Northern Quarter. Jane is also Editor of The Vegetarian, which Temple Design produces
on behalf of The Vegetarian Society, which is based in Altrincham. Her business
partner Gwilym Hughes is an award-winning graphic designer previously employed
at Rochdale Alternative Press (RAP).
Jane says: 'We are lucky enough to have a lot of good contacts, but Body &
Soul's success really depends on people contacting us to tell us about what is
happening in the region. We hope that people will get involved, and send us their
listings and news stories, so that Body & Soul really takes off.'
