Spring has, traditionally, been the impetuous for us to rid our homes of the detritus of winter - The Spring Clean.
But why confine such a cathartic & therapeutic experience to our homes? Our bodies are just as likely to have accumulated junk over a winter (lifetime) of stodge, comfort foods and relative inactivity. You know how good you feel to have cleared out the junk and cobwebs at home so imagine how GREAT you'd feel after cleaning away the junk from your insides.
Colon Hydrotherapy is the safe, gentle infusion of water into the colon via the rectum. During therapy the client lies on a treatment table in complete comfort. A small disposable speculum gently introduces warm filtered water into the colon. This method of cleansing the colon is nothing new. This safe treatment has been exercised for over 3000 years. The classic beauty Cleopatra is said to have been an advocate.
These are just some of the common problems that can be relieved by colon hydrotherapy:
To maintain good health, your body must effectively eliminate food and bodily waste!Your colon, together with your lungs, skin and kidneys are designed to accomplish this essential task by elimination of toxins in the intestines, blood and lymph systems. The colon is a muscular tube approximately 5 to 5 ½ feet in length.
The process of digestion from ingestion of food to defecation, normally takes between 12 to 24 hours assuming that the colon is fully functional and non-toxic. Irregular or infrequent bowel movements can allow toxic residues, from the by-products of undigested foods, to remain in the colon.A person with a healthy colon will have 2 to 3 bowel movements per day, shortly after each meal taken. Elimination should be complete and easy. The stool should be light brown in colour, long and large diameter. There should be no offensive odour and it should break apart with toilet flushing.
Just one colon hydrotherapy session may be equivalent to having 20 or 30 regular bowel movements. Eliminations during subsequent therapy sessions can be even more substantial as older, hardened, impacted faeces are dislodged from the colon walls.
Colonic hydrotherapy is beneficial for almost everyone Â? not just those with a known bowel problem. We can assist with conditions like M.E., Candida and parasite problems like worms. Orthodox medical practitioners often overlook these conditions but colonic treatment often brings positive results quickly.
What will colonic hydrotherapy do to the colon?
Specifically, a colonic is used to accomplish the following:
1. Cleanse the Colon: Toxic material is broken down so it can no longer harm your body or inhibit elimination. Even debris built up over a long period is gently removed in the process of a series of treatments. Once impacted material is removed, your colon can begin again to co-operate as it was intended to. In this very real sense a colonic is a rejuvenation treatment.
2. It Exercises the Colon Muscles: The build up of toxic debris weakens the colon and impairs its functioning. The gentle filling and emptying of the colon improves peristaltic (muscular contraction) activity by which the colon naturally moves material.
3. It Reshapes the Colon: When problem conditions exist in the colon, they tend to alter its shape, which in turn causes more problems. The gentle action of the water, coupled with the massage techniques of the colon therapist helps to eliminate bulging pockets of waste and narrowed, spastic constrictions finally enabling the colon to resume its natural state.
Old hardened faeces stick to the walls of the colon. The passage through which the faeces are forced to travel is much reduced so that stools become narrow in diameter. In this society, bowel movements of the chronically constipated... may be looked upon as a normal stool! Most people have no any idea how much old, hardened, faecal matter is lodged within their colons. Experts believe that the average person has 5 to 20 lbs of accumulated waste matter in their colon. While not a weight loss procedure it is interesting to note that people who complete a series of colon hydrotherapy sessions report significant weight losses. There is really nothing to worry about a colonic treatment. At no time is your dignity compromised, the room is warm and cheerful as you recline on a treatment couch. There is no noise, smell or embarrassment as all the waste is channelled directly into the mains waste system.
Your Colonic Practitioner
To be trained in colon hydrotherapy your therapist must have been previously trained in orthodox medicine or have satisfactory training in anatomy and physiology and considerable training and experience in a body based complementary therapy for at least 5 years.
Subsequently they will have been trained at an approved Colonic Hydrotherapy training college.
Colon hydrotherapy is popular with both men & women of all ages.
Before your first treatment your therapist should complete a very detailed lifestyle, dietary and medical questionnaire to tailor a specific treatment plan for your needs. Advise on homecare, diet and supplements complete the treatment.
When you consider that the UK has one of the highest incidences of bowel cancer in the western world and 1 in 3 visits to a GP is for a digestion related condition Â? shouldn't you give serious thought to giving you digestive tract a through spring clean soon?
And remember - you don't have to wait for Spring to have a great clear out - do it now!
