Jin Shin Jyutsu – Touch for health

Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient art to help harmonise life energy within the body. Jin Shin Jyutsu literally means 'the art of the Creator through the person of compassion'. It is an art as old as time because in ancient times people saw no distinction between mind, body and spirit. Jin Shin Jyutsu was rediscovered by a Japanese man, Jiro Murai in the early 1900's who was studying ancient texts and Buddhist iconography. He was able to heal himself from a terminal illness through his studies. He then taught a Japanese-American, Mary Burmeister who brought the art to the west.

Jin Shin Jyutsu (pronounced jin shin jitsu) helps us reconnect to the concept of us not being just a physical being. It's a concept that life energy pervades the universe and gives life to all things. Traditional people from all walks of life looked beyond the physical form to the underlying energy that vitalizes and harmonise the mind and body. This energy is based on the theory that our bodies are mapped out with pathways of energy, known as chi by the Chinese, ki by the Japanese or prana by the Hindus. If the energy does not flow freely within these energy pathways, also known as 'flows' in Jin Shin Jyutsu, it can lead to an imbalance which in turn leads to ill health.

Jin Shin Jyutsu will help to unblock the energy pathways via 26 'safety energy locks' which are points on the body similar to acupoints in acupuncture.

So the fundamental principle of Jin Shin Jyutsu is to promote circulation of the vital energy along the pathways which communicate with our nerves, blood vessels and the organs. When these pathways become blocked or congested we then can experience fatigue, discomfort, pain and ultimately illness. Jin Shin Jyutsu releases these blockages bringing relaxation to the body so that stress is reduced and healing can begin.

It can benefit any condition from arthritis, headaches, fertility, digestive disorders, fatigue, menstrual imbalances, chest and breathing problems as well as emotional stress. There are no limits in how Jin Shin Juytsu can help in balancing and harmonizing the body, mind and spirit.

A Jin Shin Jyutsu session takes just over an hour to do. The client is fully clothed. It does not involve massage, manipulation of bones or muscles. First the clients pulse is read to verify which energy flow is required. There is then a sequence that is done by placing fingertips on designated areas on the body until a rhythmic pulse is felt by the therapist. The treatment is very relaxing Sometimes a client may feel tingling or twitching but in general many clients feel so relaxed that they are close to sleep. A course of treatments is beneficial, 3 to 6 sessions is recommended to have full benefits, then regular sessions whenever is possible to keep in balance. A person does not have to be ill to have Jin Shin Jyutsu as the benefit is all about keeping in balance Â? A TOUCH FOR HEALTH
