What is it?
Regression therapy takes a holistic view of the body and spirit having a fundamental interconnectedness. Unlike many other therapies that only focus on symptoms, this healing involves reconnection with the root cause of the problem and allows the client to understand deeply the issues associated with the problem before they are resolved at both a physical, emotional and spiritual level. It's like taking a thorn embedded deep inside us. Unless the thorn is removed total healing is not possible. Sometimes the root cause is a traumatic experience below the level of conscious awareness that has been affecting our well being. Experiences may go back beyond early childhood into prenatal experiences and into stories that may appear to be a past life. A migraine, chronic lower back pain or knee problem may be telling a story from an old accident or wound. A chronic sore throat may derive from strangling, hanging or choking as our soul returns to life over and over, recreating unresolved emotions in our current life often making little sense, and keeping us from living peaceful lives.
Any client experience is treated in an accepting and authentic way. Various psychotherapies may be used in the regression process such as Hypnosis, Gestalt, Psychodrama, Body Therapy, Past Life Regression together with various spiritual transpersonal and energy techniques.
Regression therapy reaches deeper and heals deeper, physically, emotionally mentally and spiritually, than most other therapeutic approaches.
What will happen?
Really, that will depend on what is troubling you. The therapist will try to help you understand what is the root cause of your problem and work with you to help you transform it. Remember, you already have within yourself the answers to the problem even if you are not aware of that at a conscious level. The therapist can only help you to find those answers within yourself and help you draw on your existing resources to transform your problem.
What is it best for?
The symptoms dealt with by Regression Therapy include low energy levels, unwanted voices or thoughts, emotional outbursts, anxiety, anger, guilt, depression, panic attacks, nightmares, unexplainable physical pain, blocked feelings, loss of life focus and difficulty forming or maintaining personal relationships. It also deals with deeper trauma from childhood or sexual abuse. Often the problem and symptoms keep being repeated.
What independent evidence is there that it works?
Hazel Denning studied the results by eight Regression Therapists with nearly 1000 clients between 1985 and 1992. Results were measured just after the therapy, after six months, one year, two years and five years. Of the 450 clients who could still be tracked after 5 years; 24% reported the symptoms had completely gone, 23% reported considerable or dramatic improvement, 17% reported noticeable improvement and 36% reported no improvement. Wambach conducted the largest study using 26 regression therapists who had worked with a total of 17,350 clients. Of these 63% reported an improved in a physical symptom, and 40% reported an improved their interpersonal relationships. Medical professionals are starting to use this therapy. An example is Dr Peter Mack who has been working for 30 years in a Singapore hospital and now uses it for clients whose physical symptoms do not respond to traditional medication. An example of how he worked with one of his patients can be found in his book Healing Deep Hurt Within.
Regression Therapists are able to reach further and heal deeper at the physical, emotional, and spiritual level than most other therapeutic approaches. It transforms clientâ??s problems in a way that is both safe and structured.
