General information:

Whether you want to do an Introductory Course, to provide Massage or Aromatherapy for family and friends, or train as a Clinical Aromatherapist, every small step taken in the direction of Complementary Medicine takes you nearer to unlocking your potential to assist others - and yourself - in the search for health.

The S.E.E.D. Institute (T.S.I.) was founded in 1986 with intentions and purposes that are fundamentally holistic. Despite the obvious difficulties inherent in managing change, we believe in respecting harmony. There is a growing awareness, understanding and respect for the principle of Reciprocal Maintenance*. Resonance and its opposite, dissonance, are the fundaments of all change - including health and disease - as all levels of Being respond to corresponding environments. Ecological discoveries provide us with mounting evidence of this principle and its biospheric operations.

Whether we have yet realised it, or not, each one of us is both a product and a source, in body, mind and spirit, of resonance and dissonance. Therefore, if we desire a higher quality of life, we should seek to embody and manifest higher quality vibrations.

THROUGH THE TOWEL: additional techniques (Shiatsu, Pulsing, Cranio-sacral +) - 1 Day
Course-certificate, Post-graduate Training Credits - for Bodywork Therapists Tutor: Anne Parry
Add variety to your massage with techniques from Shiatsu, Pulsing, Cranio-sacral and more - with techniques that have the added advantage of being able to be performed though the towel – ideal if you have a client who does not want to take their clothes off: or who gets cold quickly.  Working through the towel has many benefits, including: allowing the client time to become accustomed to your touch while feeling safe - especially if it is their first time and allowing you to use gentle but deep techniques without sliding over the skin.
With these techniques and adaptations you should be able to give a full body massage, though they can also be incorporated into a regular massage. The techniques are drawn from a variety of modalities but all have the common characteristic that they can be done through the towel or through clothing.  They are non-invasive; they give the client a chance to settle, arrive and feel safe.

TSUBOKI: JAPANESE FACE MASSAGE - 1 Day
Certificate of Qualification, Post-grad. Training Credits - for Bodywork Therapists or Beauty Therapists.
The Japanese believe that beauty is more than skin deep and that, in order to be beautiful, one must also be healthy.  This face massage works on both aspects simultaneously:
* working superficially, we can improve skin-tone and lymph-flow.
* working at the deeper muscular level, we can affect muscle-tone and general appearance
* working with the facial meridians, we can affect the balance of health in the whole body - as well as the specific flow of Ki in the face.
Topics include: The course is mainly practical, but also addresses basic theories, e.g: * What is a meridian? * What is a tsubo? * Theory of Japanese face-massage * Three stages: Anma, Acupressure, Lymphatic Drainage * Meridians running through the face – direction of flow and point location.  There are short written and practical assessments on the day. Students must then complete 5 practice sessions within 6 weeks before being issued with a Certificate of Qualification.

TSUBOKI: JAPANESE FOOT MASSAGE – 1 Day

Do you love to give a good foot massage but are not a Reflexologist?  Or maybe you are a Reflexologist who would like to learn new techniques to enhance your treatments?  “TSUBOKI” is massaging a small part of the body in order to influence the health of the whole person.  By pressing Tsubo points and tracing meridians, we are helping to improve the state of health. Tsubo (Acupressure) points and meridians influence the flow of energy along the meridian, with some having specific uses for common ailments. A valuable and popular tool in any therapist's repertoire. This is an intense, fun and informative course. Topics include:  * foot massage incorporating oriental techniques and the use of ridoki * 33 Tsubo points and 6 meridians on each foot. Students must complete 3 practice sessions within 6 weeks before being issued with a Certificate of Competence.

TSUBOKI: JAPANESE HAND-MASSAGE - 1 Day                                                                                                                            Certificate of Qualification, Post-graduate Training Credits - for Bodywork Therapists.
Please note this course is open to Lay-people.
Tsuboki Hand Massage is based on the same principles as Tsuboki Face and Tsuboki Foot massage: Massaging a part of the body that has reflexes to the whole, that is easily accessible and uses acupressure points and meridians to have effects beyond the hand and the purely physical. The meridians that run through the hand are related to METAL and EARTH energies and, working on them, we are having primarily DETOXING and CALMING influences. There are over 50 acupressure points on 6 meridians on the hands and forearms. In addition, you will learn an emergency point on the hand to use in case of a heart attack and reflexes that can help to speed up weight loss. Students must complete 3 practice sessions within 6 weeks before being issued with a certificate of competence.
